God commands all of us to care for orphans

Defend the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy. Psalms 82:3 (KJV)

FACTS:

  • ~520,000 children in the United States are in Foster Care.
  • On average 120,000 children each year are in need of adoptive families.
  • But only 9,000 children are adopted by Christian families every year.

As Christians, we could single-handedly solve the adoption need in the United States.

Is God calling you to be an adoptive family?

Are you listening? Are you obeying?

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:22 and 27 (NIV)

The Open Arms Ministry of Calvary Church in cooperation with the One Heart Family Ministries has created the Portraits of Grace. Our mission is to communicate to the Christian community the significant need for adoption of local foster care children/orphans. It is our hope that viewers of the photography exhibit or this website will be powerfully moved and inspired to pursue more information, and ultimately, adoption of the pictured children or other waiting children in the foster care system.

Consider this: According to a national survey done by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, four in 10 Americans have considered adoption.

Could you provide a Christian home for a child in need?

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)
